InSitu at the DRAP Stakeholders Meeting

InSitu was proud to take part in a recent stakeholders meeting at the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), where industry leaders and regulators came together to discuss the future of healthcare supply in the country.
The Big Question: What If Imports Stop?
Speaking on behalf of InSitu, our CEO, Gohar Alam, shared a message that is simple but important: Pakistan depends heavily on imports for its medical products, and that dependence is a risk.
If imports were ever disrupted for reasons no one saw coming, such as supply chain breakdowns, political tensions, or global shortages, patients would be the first to feel it. In healthcare, a delay is not just an inconvenience. It can be a matter of life and death.
Why Localization Matters
Mr. Alam spoke about localization: building more of what Pakistan needs, inside Pakistan. The benefits are clear:
- Security of supply. Local production means essential medical products stay available even when global supply lines are under pressure.
- Patient access. Products made closer to home can reach hospitals and patients faster.
- Skilled jobs. Local manufacturing builds engineering, quality, and production expertise within the country.
- Long-term resilience. A healthcare system that can produce for itself is better prepared for the unexpected.
A Conversation with DRAP Leadership
We were also glad to meet Dr. Obaidullah, CEO of DRAP. The opportunity to talk directly with the country's drug regulator about how industry and regulators can work together toward safer, more reliable, and more self-sufficient healthcare is something we value deeply.
Strong regulation and local manufacturing go hand in hand. Clear standards, quality systems, and open dialogue give manufacturers the confidence to invest, and give patients the confidence to trust what they receive.
Looking Ahead
InSitu remains committed to quality, compliance, and building capability here in Pakistan. We thank DRAP for hosting the meeting and for creating a space where these important conversations can happen. We look forward to continuing the work together.
